Sogreah: Partner 24

SogreahSOGREAH is a design and engineering consultancy company specialising in water and environmental management and land development. The company is a French private enterprise ("Société Anonyme") founded in Grenoble (France) in 1958. It is completely independent of any other industrial or financial group and has an extensive network of branch offices. The staff consists in 700 employees with a strong scientific background: PhD graduates, engineers and technicians. SOGREAH and its scientific division LHF (formerly scientific subsidiary of SOGREAH and of the Technical University of Grenoble) also regularly welcome students at the doctoral and engineering levels. The total annual turnover of the company is 60 Million Euros with about 50% in France and 50% abroad.

SOGREAH and its LHF Division have up to now held a leading position in private research, development and innovation in hydraulics at the French and European levels, very often in co-operation with public research laboratories and universities. SOGREAH is presently the co-ordinating party of the IST/OSIRIS project (Operational Solution for the Management of Inundation Risks in the Information Society). The company is participating to the IST/RISK-FORCE natural risk management thematic network, to the ASIA IT&C project (Information technologies and communication for natural disasters) and to the ENV/SANDPIT.

In particular, managing and forecasting major environmental risks is a priority activity at SOGREAH. With their complementary skills in hydrology, hydraulics, computer science and information technologies, SOGREAH/Division LHF engineers have been able to make innovative developments and applications. In the framework of inundation mapping or road or railway embankment design studies, the determination of flood hazards on the basis of 2D refined numerical modelling techniques complemented by scale model experiments is also one speciality of LHF division of SOGREAH.
